Polymer Clay Patchwork Collage by: Maria M. Crass
Artsy Girl's Bio
I grew up in the small town of Corryton, Tennessee. Over a year ago I relocated to the Tampa Bay area in Florida with my adoring husband and precious lap cat Noelle. Due to a chronic inflammatory disease called Interstitial Cystitis I am unable to work so art is more than an outlet for me, it is a way of life. The medias I work with are: Polymer Clay, Acrylic Paint, and India Ink. I also make digital fractal art on the computer. In all my work I pursue the most tedious methods of all to ensure all aspects of fine detail. Art keeps me going as it helps me take all the pain I feel due to my condition and channel it into beautiful creations.
Van Glow A Tribute To Starry Night by: Maria M. Crass
This is another polymer clay micro mosaic I made. It is a tribute to Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night. It has always been one of my favorite paintings. I enjoyed the challenge of doing this piece in clay because it gives Van Gogh's masterpiece a new textured appearance. It glows in the dark and is black light sensitive.
Seascape Mosaic by: Maria M. Crass
This is a Seascape Micro Mosaic I made from polymer clay. I hand cut each individual piece. There are shells, semi precious stones, and glass shards incorporated into it. That means in all there are four mixed medias in this mosaic. I call it a micro mosaic because of the tiny pieces. The entire mosaic glows in the dark and is black light sensitive. This project took three months of work. I worked all day and often all night on this piece and it was well worth the tedious challenge!
